700X powder??
« on: October 28, 2005, 07:31:50 AM »
I just purchased the Rainier 165gr FP plated bullets to load for my 40 S&W Glock 23. I am looking for loading data for use with IMR 700X powder. I also plan to use Titegroup powder.

Here's a clue you might use. It's from the Rainier web site:

Q6. What if I can't find load data for your bullets?
A. If you have a load for a cast lead bullet, that will transfer across the board as far as our bullets go. We recommend that you reduce
a load for a jacketed bullet by 10%.

Here's the IMR data:
http://www.imrpowder.com/data/handgun/40sw.php

That should get you started.

Thanks but I have already checked out IMR's site. They do not even list any cast loads for the 40S&W. I sent them a message and am awaiting a reply.

Love 700X for 12 ga. shotgun loads. Never found it to be that useful for handgun loading. In short all the loads I ever tried with it were horrible. Gave up on it for that use. Suggest you do too.

Like I told you elsewhere:

Titegroup From 5.0 grains to 5.4 grains
 Winchester WSP Primer

And 700X is not a suitable powder, try 800X instead.

700X is an excellent powder for the 40S&W. ive loaded many thousands of cast bullet loads over 700X, it gives good accuracy and burns reasonably clean.
