Hey everyone I have a 45-70 guide gun with ports. My problem is every once in a while the round coming out of the magazine get jamed. I have read somewhere where there is a fix, I'm not a gun smith. MY question is will Marlin fix the problem?? thanks for the help.

Strider, do a search for Marlin jam here on GBO.

I have not had any jams with my Guide Gun in 45-70 but many have experience with the Marlin Jam.

Marlinowners.com might be a place to look as well.

I think a lot of the Marlin jam problem is working the lever to slow...........the lever should be worked aggressively.........quickly with full strokes......now this isn't to say that there isn't a problem........but the problem usually shows up more often if the lever is not fully stoked, and quickly.......

There is some timing involved and usually the faulty part is the carrier assembly...........to trouble shoot this problem would require a fair working knowledge of how the action operates. A good DVD or video tape is The Complete Marlin Rifle.........Disassembly & Reassembly, cleaning & Maintenance...........there's a fair amount of "fluff" but the 20 minutes or so of meat and potatoes is really pretty good.........This doesn't cover tuning, but gives a good "theory of operation", as well as how to take the gun all the way down and put it back to gather again.......also, common problems and the fixes.........check out www.gunvideo.com

I would make sure that all the screws are tight. Sometimes the rifle will jam if the loading gate screw is loose.

Thanks everyone, 1st time it happened I noticed the lever screw was loose tighten up no problems. then it happen again caulked it to working the leveler like a puss :grin: :grin: but it has happened when everything was perfect. thanks for the info. LOVE THE GUN

I had a simlar problem and it drove me nuts, finally figured it was the loading gate screw, go figure! You have to stay up on all those reciever screws, make sure they are all tight and loktite is a plus.
