The ongoing saga....Diary of a new shooter part VI

For those that have been sitting on the end of your seats waiting for the next installment. ( By the way if this describes ya, man you need help.)

I have now shot 3 matches.  I sure wish I could get to more but things with work and the kids keep me from it.  I am having fun though.

I now have both of my Bisley Vaqueros. Man they sure do shoot good. I also now have a second set of 41 Magnum BHS as my backup set.   I have since added a Norinco 97 that should be here this week.  I will probably be letttin the original 97 I found go as soon as I get a good look the the one I bought.   My 92 has been giving me real fits.  The match I went and shot at was in English Texas. The fella I bought the rifle from shoots there. As soon as I got to the firing line one of the other guys said " Oh no not that gun!"   That made me feel real good.  I do have some trouble with it feeding. The magazine tube keeps backing out of the band as well.  I need to work on it some.  I have my 94 and I will probablly use it next match.
I got to use a 66 for the rest of the match there and man I sure do like em. My checkbook wont allow for one just yet.  I will try the 94 for now and keep working on the 92.  I might try and find a Marlin in the mean time.

I am still waiting on my leather from Big Ed . I have the stuff I got from Pecos for now and it works just fine.  I still get excited when I am gettin ready for a shoot.  It was strange going somewhere new. I didnt know anyone there so I was a little uncomfortable.  By the end of the shoot I had made some new friends and Ill be going back for sure.

Its kinda cool trying somewhere esle out.. You get to see how other folks run the matches and see different targets too.  Thier shotgun targets were sure hard for me to knock down.  I dont know why, I never have had trouble before.  Who knows.  I did go to #8 shot from 6 maybe that was the difference.  

I hope this isnt getting to silly for ya.  Maybe the Marshall should take over the ongoing story.  Since he is the new guy now.

Howdy DB,

Sounds like you are building a good collection of CAS guns. :grin:

I know what you mean about going to other clubs. I have shot at 11 clubs in 6 states. No 2 were the same, other than they all had great people!! I like seeing the different targets and stage designs that the clubs come up with.  

BTW, I like the pic in your profile. I'm sure your Great Grandpa would be proud!!

                       By all means, keep this thread going.  It is interesting to a number of folks on several levels.  Either we have gone thru what you are describing, or we will....

                       I will be interested to hear about the norinco 97 as well.

DB, I'm still trying to catch up with work, we had a sunny day yesterday and starting that way today!!  :-D  :-D  :-D   I don't have time to tell ya what I really think, but I have a question in the meantime- What are the problems your having with the rifle???

I've heard about this before, and there are some sites that describe fixes, and I'm pretty sure that there are some here that know how it's done.

Please keep up the good work!  Always enjoyable!

:D Oh! River Runner!!  That did NOT happen!!  Shot first, now I gotta catch up on the work so I can shoot again!!!  :-D

When you are as new at it as I am even the home club seems like a new experience each time :)

Want to go to some others but work keeps getting in the way :(
