Encore scope mount
« on: March 16, 2003, 07:13:50 AM »
I have a new encore rifle that shoots fine ,I used a weaver mount and burris Zee signiture rings to mount a leupold scope and found that I cant get the scope far enough forward . If I could get the scope 1 inch forward life would be great, I wouldnt mind buying another mount but would like to use the rings .

Burris makes the best base I've tried on the rifle barrels.  They call it a carbine base.  It is different than their pistol base.  It extends the scope further away from your eye.  Mid-South hase them for about $14.

Eye Relief

Another option is to add some length to the stock. I have a Boyd's laminate stock that I added a pachmeyer decelerator pad and added about a 3/4 to 1/2 inch of length.  This is also increased eye relief on the scope.  Of course, if you do not want the additional length on the stock, this method will not work for you.  Also, my factory synthetic came with a recoil pad, so adding a spacer is the only way to pick up any length there.

Of the two bases identified (Burris DD-TE Carbine base and the Virgin Valley scope base), which one will allow a scope to be mounted the furthest forward?  Assume we have a T/C barrel where the scope base screws begin approximately 1/2" from the end of the barrel.
