Springfield double?
« on: October 30, 2005, 09:16:56 AM »
I was browsing some online classifieds when another shotgun caught my eye. It is a Springfield 5100 SxS in 20 guage. Anyone know something about these? I have a Springfield pump, But I didn't know they made a double.

                    Thanks! Flyrodder.

Flyrodder,
Yes....I own a Springfield double 12 gauge (2 3/4") vintage 5100 (late 30's early 40's).  This particular shotgun was made in the J. Stevens Arms plant in Chicopee Falls Mass.  My mother gave it to my father in the mid to late 30's before WWII.  The usual value on these 5100 doubles is rather disappointing according to any trading catalogs I find.  The one you found being in 20 gauge might be a bit higher but still in the $150-180 range in very good to excellent condition.
