Anybody shoot the new cva optima?  They have 2 models, a 26" barrel and
a 29" fluted barrel.  What's the advantage of the 29" fluted barrel.  I have
both 45  and 50 cal.  Anybody hunting black bear with a 45 cal?

To answer the question about the fluted barrel, I think they did that to provide a lighter, stronger, faster-cooling barrel than the heavy versions.  Now obviously, with muzzle loading, you ain't gonna heat up the barrel too much less you're Superman, but the flutting is a little lighter than the stock hex barrels.  Ya see, then it is a new "gotta have it" feature you can't live without!

Second question, would I hunt black bear with a 45 cal. muzzle loader?  Are you hatchin' a death wish?  I'd be packin' one hellacious .44 cal. handcannon as backup!
