Vote for a Democrat??
« on: November 02, 2005, 12:31:45 PM »
Creigh Deeds (D) Va candidate for Va Attorney General is endorsed by the NRA with an A+ rating.
He is so pro-gun that his Democratic cohorts don't like him much!
Doug Wilder (mayor of Richmond, former Va governor) refused to endorse him!
He actually approved of the sun-setting of the "assault weapons" ban (aka machine guns, to Demos).
He advocates a Vermont style unregulated concealed carry for Va.
He advocates repeal of the one-gun-a-month law.

He'll be the first Democrat I've voted for since Jimmy Carter!

Question?  Why is he even a Democrat?

Just a guess......because Lincoln was a Republican.........There are still places around the south that have never elected a Republican sense the war of northern aggression..........So, to get elected,  you have to be a democrat......there are a few conservative democrats.....but not many......

Not in this lifetime.

 :?
They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

I voted for a Democrat for governor in '98. He had voted FOR CCW (which was vetoed by our Republican governor) when he was in the state legislature. His opponent (who won BTW) was an anti gun-rights Republican who by the way is currently being tried on corruption charges in federal court. But I would never vote for a dem for a federal office because that just adds support to the likes of Kennedy, Schumer, Clinton, Pelosi etc.

In the south you can find Democrats that are worth a darn...

I don't know much about Deeds and McDonald (sp?)  From what I have heard Deeds would not stand in the way of gun rights, but he may not take an active role in expanding gun rights (such as lifting the restaurant ban in VA)... McDonald might actually be more progressive on gun rights... particularly froma self-defense standpoint.

But basically it means to me that the gun issue is moot in this race... what's he feel about other issues?

I've been very happy with Boucher as my representative and he's a pro-gun Dem.

I like what I'm reading on Creigh Deeds' credentials on the RTKBA.

But... I find it hard to vote for any democrat when if only democrats voted they couldn't pass any thing positive on our right to keep and bear arms!

The dilemma I see is that if we don't support men Deeds how can we ever expect the democrats to improve their position on gun control!????
