Would have to be something pretty substantial.... those aren't exactly light weight pieces of iron.  The "Packing Iron" book would have some real good historical pieces in it.

The Walker Colts were originaly "packed" by horses in saddle mounted holsters according to accounts during the  US-Mexican War (1846-1848)(yes they were indeed horse pistols). Each Walker Colt weighs around 64 oz. (4 Lbs), not exactly a pocket pistol. So Col. Colt paired down and modified the Walker and came up with the Dragoon Series of revolvers, smaller but still hardly man packable. It was until Colt came out with the 1860 Army Model that he struck a balance between power and weight. You can find holsters for the Walker but you may need suspenders to distribute the weight.

Hey Will, check out my post under antique finishes here lately. I made that holster to carry my Walker with the intent to make another when I get another Walker. With the wide skirt it really rides nice, but does tend to pull on the pants some    Good luck. DM

Thanks Dalton, looks good, and I've got an idea similar to it but a little slimer.  Just got to find the time to work on it.  Not looking forward to hand stitching it eigther, after every sheath I swear I'm gonna get a sticher! :)
