35 Remington shooters sound off!
« on: April 07, 2005, 09:20:04 AM »
Hi Guy`s,

PMC is going to look into making this Starfire load for the 35 Remington.Heres what PMC posted.

Thank you for all your responses gentelmen. We will be discussing the possibility of this load at the next gathering. I have done a bit of searching myself and have seen numerous other forum posts on other boards regarding the .35 Rem. Personally, I think it would be a rather popular round, so I am putting it on top of the list.

Keep those votes coming, gives me more ammo in the board room

I'd like to know what I'm voting on.  What's a "Starfire" load?
Hunting is Exciting!  Bolt actions are BORING!!
Don't mix the two!

Hi Guy`s,

A Starfire bullet is loaded in the 30-30 by PMC.It`s a solid copper 150gr Barns X TYPE bullet. This load is thought to be by many as one of the best 30-30 factory loads on the market.

We are hoping to see a 180gr 2300fps 35 Remington +p load.Thanks for showing a interest.Hope this helps.

A 180gr bullet at 2300 fps is enough reason for me to buy one!

Yep, I would prolly buy the 180-gr, and or the 200-gr and see which one works best in my 336CS.

I tried to register over there at PMC but some type of board problem.

Any time you can get a " better" factory load for your  favorite  cal why not..  The only caveat being safety.

The Conley Rifle Ammo site shows a 180 gr with the velocity at 2140.
   The box(20) costs.........$47.80!
I`m wondering if this PMC "stepped" up stuff will be about the same or more? Just a question.
I`m wondering if this is just a better mouse trap? if it is, the old one,
regular factory stuff if you will....... will do just fine. A dead deer is a deer deer.  I`m sure they`ll never see the new one coming but they never saw the old one either.
Previous post should be ignored. The $$$$ got me.

Sounds like they are trying to compete with Buffalo Bores 220 gr. JFN 2200 fps 2364 ft. lbs. Per Box of 20 @ $39.99

Dang I paid $13.99 for a box of 20 for Remington 200-gr core locks - and I'm pretty sure they will still slam the game pretty hard still.

I think the Remington 200 gr. Core-Lokt's work great for deer hunting. I would rather use something along the lines off Buffalo Bores 220 gr. JFN for black bear and wild boar hunting!

Well sooner or later I will get into loading for this cartridge.  www.beartoothbullets.com has a real good 200-gr FN GC over all length 800,  nose to crip .360 or .470,    meplat dia .280

I would use the .359 dia bullet in my Marlin with its micro groove rifling.

Looks like a good bullet to hunt with .Let a deer quickly find two corks to plug the holes, before you find him dead.

You will find the 35 Rem a sweetheart with Cast Bullets .
I use the 205 gr. GC  RCBS mould bullet over a case full of Varget .
It prints groups in my old Rc.
I would indorse Remington 35 articles As well as thought from Ranch Dog.
They really make an old girl come to life.
Well 'nough said.If every one would load up the little cartridge to what it can do in a Marlin ,not for the old remingtons mind you. Demand and price  would go up With the better loads .
It is like the 8MM . Factory loads are mild to be safe in the older model 88 and so Mausers . But in a good model 98 the 8MM can be loaded up like that of the 3006. Like wise the 35 Remington . Factory loads need to be mild to consider the boys using the old remington pumps and auto' in use that can not take the pressure.
So some sit quiet reload, and have a big grin on our face
Happy

Howdy-so, you talk to your favorite qualified gunsmith and spend a few dollars and move that 180 grain bullet 300fps faster. You can even keep it stamped 35 Rem. if you want. positive realidahorock

If PMC does come out with a +P load like this I'd expect it to be relatively cheap.
They just discontinued a +P 45/70 load that bout matches buffalo bores ballistics & the .450 & it was only $20 + or - a box.
