Bought a new Savage 112BVSS need info on scope base/rings
« on: June 23, 2003, 01:17:22 PM »
Hello, I just purchased a new Savage 112BVSS in 25-06 Remington over the weekend and need a little help on finding a scope base for this rifle. I searched the usual sites like midwayusa and natchez but I am not sure what base will fit this rifle. I did not see anything that specifically stated that it was for the Savage 112BVSS. The closest one that I found was "Leupold 1 piece base Savage 110 through 116 right hand long action flat rear gloss". My first thought was that this would work but then I noticed that it says flat and my rifle is drileld and tapped for the scope base on a curved surface. I don't want to order something online and have to ship it back.

Does anyone have a Savage 112BVSS that could tell me what scope base you are using?

I would greatly appreciate it

Thank you!

I think that all (or at least most) bases that fit Remington 700s also fit Savage actions too.  Am I wrong?

Congrats on the new Savage. Greatest value in American rifles. I have one in .223 and love it. First you need to determine which 112 you have. The "new" ones with the AccuTrigger have a redesigned action that uses the same bases front and rear. The older ones (like mine) have a cutaway on the rear that requires a different base.
