7.62x54 ballistics

I'm shooting a mossin 91/30 with mil surplus ammo, silver tip, does anybody have some ballistic info on this or wolf ammo?

The 7.62x54R is ballistically about (better than) halfway between a 308 and 30-06 .  Much of the hunting ammo available from europe for this cartridge carries a 200 gn bullet.  The Russians used this cartridge to hunt their Boar and Bear.  From all perspectives it is a good cartridge.  HTH.  Mikey.

Great site on the ammo.  I picked up some hungarian ETALON ammo a while back but i haven't benchrested it yet.  I seen it performs the best out of a finnish mosin 91/30 which i have just scoped one. It will be a good test.  The Etalon ammo is suppose to be loads used by the proof houses to calibrate test barrels and test equipment so everyone is pretty much the same like quality sniper stuff.  Its a more constantly loaded ammo eveyone is same much like sniper ammo. Its suppose to be the best 7,62x54 ammo out there, top shelf quality stuff. This is what it was advertised as anyway.

D Man, why would proof loads be equivalent to sniper loads?  Proof loads are loaded to "proof" a firearm for pressure and are not loaded for accuracy .  If the ammo mentioned is proof loads, I certainly would not shoot it in a 50 + year old rifle.  Not having experience with this particular I suspect it is not a proof load, but loaded more for shooting on a regular basis.

Sorry i stand corrected it was used by the proof houses to calibrate the test equipment.  Its suppose to be a better quality ammo more constant like everyone is exactly the same. I'll try it and benchrest it soon and we'll see. I bought quite a few boxes when AIM had it for sale to try it. I wish i'd bought more of it now.

thanks to all, Just printed the info. I've got a 91/30 with a S&K scope mount at 150 yds its a blast to shoot.
   Has anybody chronoed there gun and ammo?
