I looked at the old black powder power of the 45-70 and the new smokeless version is like a 45-100. I am talking trap doors level. Am I reading this right???

Very difficult to compare BP to smokeless. Even the 45-100 operates under less pressure than a smokeless 45-70.

I don't think the 45-100 with BP will get close to the 2200 fps of the 45-70 with smokeless. My 45-70 with 70 gr. of BP only goes about 1150 fps. I don't think you would get much over 1400 or 1500 fps with the 45-100. I could be off a little but I don't think much. But I am comparing 300 gr. bullet from a smokeless 45-70 to a 500 gr. bullet in my 45-70 with BP. So if all were equal in bullet weight, you may be close.
