Best .22 LR Ammo for a Ruger Mark II

What .22 LR ammo gives you the best accuracy in your Ruger Mark II?  And, what kinds of groups are you able to acheive at 25 yards?  50? Thanks!

Blessings!

:cb2: I don't think there is anything more individual than .22 automatics. What shoots well in one Mk. II won't shoot worth a flip in another. The only thing that would shoot — period — without jamming in mine was CCI Blazers. You're just gonna have to try a little of everything until you find what your gun likes.

I have a S&W 2206 that likes everything except Remington ammo. The regular velocity loads tend to me more accurate for me, but some autos seem to need the high velocity stuff to cycle well. Winchester Wildcats are very accurate in the S&W, but would jam in the Ruger.

Good luck!

One thing good about a 22 is the ammo is cheap. You are going to have to buy several different brands and see what works for your gun. The good thing is, you will get a lot of trigger time.  :D

Yep Remington golden bullet, I had several autoloaders that all they would shoot was remington.

Mine really liked the PMC target ammo. Didn't get a chance to group it, but I always did well (for me) in falling plates. Had too many misfires with it, had to stop using the lot I had for matches. The most reliable .22 rimfire I have used is CCI Mini Mags. Accuracy is decent too. Don't remember what the grouping was while sighting in, it's been too long. Wouldn't hurt to go back to the bench and check them out.

Mine will eat anything you feed it except Federal Bulk ammo.

At 20m mine groups Wolfe (SK) best.

The only thing mine likes is remington. It won't shoot federal winchester or CCI. Which suits me since remington is $8 for 550.

The first 200 round or so, my Mark II definitely did not like anything hollow pointed.  After another 200 rounds or so, I can fire just about anything in it without jamming.  When I start going to the range more regularly again (hey, its striper season here now!) I will start testing to see which is more accurate.  I am just glad the FTFs stopped !!

My Mk2 seems to not favour remington as does the Mk1 and a S&W 617. The rifles show no problem with Remington. To be truthful any 22 lr will work in my guns, and I have a good supply, trying to figure out this riddle.

My old mark I has fired everything I have fed it in the last 40 years. It doesn't cycle with shorts but that isn't the guns fault - but they are accurate. For accuracy I like the standard velocity cheap ammo - Blazer and the like but you (as always) have to keep the gun clean.

First off, I dn't have a 22 Ruger.  But in the 22's I do have, I get a lot of misfires with Remington Thunderwhazzit and hear the same from others.

The other day I ran a bunch of the Federal bulk stuff over the chrony from a Buckmark and from a revolver and found that the velocity was not very consistent.  That does not automatically mean poor accuracy at moderate ranges though.

I have had a Ruger Mk11 target with a S/S bull barell for a good many years. I have tried alot of different ammo through it and it handled everything without a hitch. I get my best accuracy from CCI Minimags or Federal American Eagle HP's . It does not do as well with CCI Stingers or PMC 22's I've tried. It is great with the ELY target grade ammo, but thats just too expensive for the type of plinking I do.The CCI Minimags will hit most anything I shoot them at.

I use my Mk II Gov't Model for everything.  I had a Clark Trigger installed and she is the only pistol I have ever owned that outshoots me.  It favors Remington ammo although she shoots everything I have put through her.  She is target accurate with Remington Sub Sonics and CCI Standard Velocity.  For higher speeds she shoots almost any of the loads with just as much accuracy I think.  Whenever I take her small game hunting she never misses.  She likes the Remington Golden Bullet and the Hollowpoints as well as the CCI MiniMags.  I really can't tell you how much fun it was trying to figure all that out.  HTH.  Mikey.

Good for you! I own several pistols that outshoot me. Don't know if the guns are getting better, or I'm getting worse! Probably the latter.

I tried out some Wolf Match ammo and it was one of the more accurate ammo I have tested. I have tried many but not all 22 lr ammo on the market in my Ruger MK1, MK2 and S&W 617. No jams with any or mis fires accuracy was best with Wolf and Fed Champ. and CCI siloette. All ran close, however Remington sub sonic was the worst. Like a poster said this ammo is cheap. I would like to try some Winchester Dynapoint, seems hard to buy at this time, have heard favorable results.

My 45/22 won't feed the dynapoints reliably at all, and wildcats are a joke! The remingtons that come in the square plastic box it loves, and shoots extremely well.
