7 tcu hunting load with Hornady 139?
« on: November 07, 2005, 04:15:30 PM »
I have been using some 139 grain hornady bullets that came with my barrel with 24 grains of 322 as a fireforming load. This load is very accurate in my carbine barrel. Anybody hunt whitetails with this bullet? Any idea of velocity and range? I have loaded some 120 nosler bt's with 27 grains of 322 but they shot a lot higher than the 139's and I decided to maybe stay with the 139 to hunt with. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Spence

What length barrel?
and what distances are you considering a max for this barrel?
Is this the SST bullet?
I would tend to think that a 120 class bullet that had a lighter jacket would be better for the 7TCU, but it has been almost 20 years since I have taken deer with one.

Don't seat to touch the lands.  Leave about 10/1000 jump.
