Suggestions on a new carry knife ?
« on: November 07, 2005, 01:52:31 PM »
I think it is time to retire my Kershaw liner action, full size with 1/2 serrated.  I have carried it daily for 10 years and it is beginning to show wear.

I really need a work horse, with a pocket clip.  Has to be a folder for the local laws and under 4" blade.

Any suggestions ?

I would like to keep the price around $100.00

Anyone have any experience with the bench-made griptilian or mini griptilian ?

Thank you in advance

It's just my personal opinion, and not necessarily based on a whole lot of hands on experience, but I really like the work/utility knives offered by CRKT. Their online catalog is at http://www.crkt.com.  Having just snapped a Gerber folder at work while trying to pry loose part of a pallet/nails jammed in a jack wheel, I'm kind of in the market for something stout myself.  Always liked the looks of the M-16 they offer, though not the tanto blade version; and they offer them in various sizes.  Supposed to be hell for stout from what I've read.

I'm kind of partial to the Cold Steel Voyager series, 3",4",5" & 6". Tanto or clip point.

Thanks for the input.

I ended up going with the Spyderco Endura II with a plain edge, all stainless.

I checked out the, benchmades, cold steels, Kershaws, CRT and the New Leatherman folders.

The leatherman folder do offer some nice features if you need a screwdriver on a regular basis, but did not feel right.

The spyderco screamed quality and felt best in my hand.
