What would be a good brand of chamber headspace gauge to check a 1947 Spanish 8mm Mauser? Thanks for any help, there are too many of them to choose from. Regards - Gordy.

At
www.brownells.com
they have the best prices on foster headspace gauges. Sometimes
www.midwayusa.com
has sales on them too. A "Field Gauge" would tell you if its ok to shoot or not. Its the last gauge like the limit on chamber wear if the bolt closes on the field gauge then the rifle is unsafe to shoot. The next gauge is the "No Go" and "Go" these are used for setting the headspace when changing barrels. You can use the "No-Go" gauge but if it fails the "No Go" it still could pass the "Field" gauge. So if your going to buy one headspace gauge to check your rifles the Field gauge is it. The field gauge you want is the 8mm mauser(8x57).
I purchased all the field headspace gauges for most of my surplups. Its good to make sure there ok and safe to shoot before you shoot them.
