Got my R. E. A. L. mold

A .50 caliber 250 grainer. Bought it because my CVA Bobcat loved the Buffalo Ballets I got on clearance a Wally World. Shoots 3 into the same hole at 50 yards, with my elbows rested on the bench, usin' 75 grains of FFg Wano.
Now I gotta go under the house and dig out my old castin' equipment, and find some dead soft ingots. Look out Smokey here we come!  :wink: Sooey, pig, pig, pig!  :-D

My NEF Sidekick also loves the Ball-Et in 245 grain, as do all of my T/C`s. Great bullet. Jack.

Let us hear how they shoot for you. I never tried a REAL, but I know that the Lee molds are pretty darn good for what they cost.

Prior to (foolishly) selling my T-C Pennsylvania Hunter, I used the .50 REAL bullet and got 3" groups at 100 yards off a bench with the front of the stock supported by my hand on a block of wood.  I still have the mold, wish I had the rifle.  That was with 1:60" RB rifling!

Solid, for a hollow base there's the 245 grain Buffalo Ballets. My rifle thinks they are just as good as round balls, and I think they are easier to acquire.   :grin:

I tried them in my Tennesse long rifle with a twist rate of 1:60 I got ok groups with it but did not seriously work with it hbought the bullets from
Black Jack Hill, they were 200 grain bullets was using 65 grain charge, will hav to get serious and see what she does after i replace the trigger assembly the rear set trigger has broken off, this gun has had 45 years of use by my uncle father and myself and I know dad loned it out  a few times , since I got it I had to cut the barrel down and rebuild the lock evrything has been repaired and rebuilt acctept the trigger then It'll be a new gun.  bb75

Winter Hawk, I have that rifle but have only shot PRB in it. I would like to try a lead bullet so if I may ask which mold do you have and if you remember your load data and the type of lube. This info would give me a place to start. Thanks.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you.  I would have to look at the mold to see what the number is, then cross-reference that on Lee's site to find out how much those puppies weigh.  I wasn't too worried about lube.  I believe I used Crisco which I smeared on as I was loading.  80 gr. of 3f for powder charge.  

I got worried about the bullet moving off the powder charge in a hunting situation possibly bulging the barrel.  Since Alaska requires a .54 caliber PRB or .45 caliber, 250 gr. bullet for big game other than deer I had decided to trade off the PA Hunter.  I wish now that I had actually run around in the woods with the rifle loaded with a REAL bullet to see if it was really a problem or not.  Now I have a Lyman GPR, but still wish I had the T-C!

I dug out my mold.  It is Lee's # 90396, .50 caliber, 320 gr. REAL bullet.

My Lyman likes the R.E.A.L. bullet lubed with liquid alox, a wonder wad and 80grs. of 2f Swiss. Really wallops those deer.
