Election Results????
« on: November 07, 2005, 10:27:23 AM »
Well tomorrow is Election Day for the special election that the "Wimpminator” called for.  I, for one, will be watching the results in San Francisco to see how Proposition H(the Firearm Ban for the City and County of San Francisco) does.  Really wanting to see if the people of San Francisco can be fooled into believing the Anti-Gun crowds claim that it will stop handgun violence.  Lawdog

Sure handgun bans stop gun violence, just ask the good folks of the District of Columbia (murder capital of the country).

If it passes I'd sure not want to get in the way of the impending stampede of scum turning their guns in. Man, glad I don't live there. POWDERMAN.  :x  :x

Well the votes have been counted and Proposition H passed by a 58 to 42 percent margin.  BUT it's not over yet.  San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, one of the big promoters/backers of Proposition H, was on the news early this morning admitting that Proposition H wouldnÂ’t help the cut the handgun violence that is pledging the city one bit.  He stated that the main reason they introduced Proposition H was that other cities across the nation could copy San Francisco.  While on he on telling the reporter this he was informed that the NRA was going to be filing suit to stop the implementation of Proposition H on the grounds that “cities do not have the authority to regulate firearms under California law”.  After being told this Mayor Gavin Newsom admitted that there was the likelihood that Proposition H may never get implemented.  The “fat lady” hasnÂ’t sung on this one yet.  Lawdog

At one time, I wanted to visit the Bay City just to see it once. Boy, has
that changed. I would never consider for the rest of my life going there
or buying anything that is made there if there is an alternative. If the people are so stupid there as to pass such a law, let them wallow in it alone!!!!!

On the news last night the guy that wrote and his backers(that included San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom), Proposition H admitted that he expects the Appeals Court to throw out Proposition H.  This isnÂ’t the first Gun Control bill that Sam Francisco has passed and the Appeals court threw the other one out for the same reason.  Illegal.  Federal and State law surpasses City/County law.  I donÂ’t understand why they keep trying.  The first bill passed by a 65% margin and Proposition H passed by a 57%(final count) and already the NRA has file in the Appeals Court a 279 page document out lining the laws that Proposition H breaks.  To have the vote on Tuesday and file the appeal on Wednesday means someone is a real fast typist or they already had it ready to file if needed.  To bad everyone wants to blame the whole State of California for what a "squeaky wheel" like San Francisco and areas like it do.  Lawdog

Someone got their figures mixed up.  According to the census more people are moving into California than are moving out.  And that number doesn't include the aliens, both legal and illegal.  Lawdog

No people I know will be moving there, but I am sure some Liberal types
will pour in. No doubt, many conservatives are leaving.

No, I don't lump in the whole State of Ca. in  this, as my previous post referred to the Bay area, but I would gladly throw in L.A. & some other
urban areas & some of the wonderful folks in the Capital city. Northern
California is very beautiful with alot of good hunting & good folks, but they are out numbered & therefore they will never run the show. I would have
to move if I lived there, it is a lost cause I am afraid.

It's not Liberals that are moving in.  In fact their are more Conservatives(Republicans) in California than Liberals(Democrats).  The problem is the money is in the hands of big business and so goes the money so goes the state.

Nothing is lost unless one is afraid to fight for what's important.  I am one Conservative Democrat that loves a good fight.  Like the old cigarette commercial used to say, "I'd rather fight than switch!".  The first step is to kick that “Wimpinator” out of office next year along with Don Perata and his cohorts.  Lawdog

I'm afraid that California has the same problem that we in NY state do !
The small town / rural areas have their heads on straight; but the big cities mess it all up !

We do not have the same idea about being conservative, no doubt you are
a little older than me when you say conservative & Democrat together. I
know some like you here in AR. & nice people as I bet you are. But your
party cares nothing about you but they do like your vote. Good luck in your fight, I don't like Arnold's politics either! But we both know that no conservative has a chance there anyway. And at the national level the
last conservative Democrat was Congressman Zel Miller. I would prefer now to be a friend & get back to the shooting related forums because I have had these conversations too much with these older Democrats, (not that I am a kid at 52) & they drive as fast as they can to the polls to vote for people that want to take their freedoms.

Good luck Sir!

Democrat, Republican, Green, Libertarian, Conservative, Liberal, Independent etc. are all just names as far as I am concerned.  I don't vote for names.  I vote for the person best suited for the office(or in the case of the last number of Presidential Elections the lessor of the two evils) no matter what party they belong to.  Example is I voted for Bush in 2000 & 2004.  In California Special Election of 2003 when the “Wimp” won I supported with my money and vote Tom McClintock.  Many of us are trying to get him to run against “The Wimp” in 2006.  He in my opinion is the best man for the job and we wouldnÂ’t be where we are now if he had won in 2003.  I donÂ’t let any party or organization dictate to me who to vote for.  I too would rather remain friends and are you planning on buying any new rifle)s) either for yourself or as a Christmas present for someone this season?  Lawdog

I made a false assumption when you said Conservative Democrat, to me
they can sadly no longer work together. But you vote for the man, & that
is a whole different deal! Alot of the elderly here in AR. are Democrats even though they are Conservative in their personal lives, they tow the party line & vote Democrat. We call them yellow Dog Democrats, they
will vote for Hillary, Kerry, anyone in fact that have views totally opposite
just because of the party. This is a carry over from the Cival War days
where being a Rep. was evil & Northern. The whole thing has flip flopped
& they don't see it. Now, as you know, the South & Mountain States vote
Rep. because they are more conservative, (not enough, though) & the
Yellow Dogs kick & scream. Funny how this is, when I was a kid, the
Dems. in our part of the World were conservative.
So you are old school & vote for the man. Good for you Sir! That is
definitely a good thing!

Lawdog, I have been so busy this year that I am just starting to look at
gift possibilities. Actually, they probably could use an additional gun, who
couldn't right?  :)
