I am of reasonably sound mind, and wish to buy and install a new Bold trigger, with side safety for my little 7x57.  Rifle has the inconvenient left side swing safety, and the original trigger, well, has a mile of creep and heavy letoff.  Bolt shroud kind of rattles around, but gun functions and shoots well.

Anyone installed one of these triggers?  I have a knack for inletting, so relief for the new safety shouldn't be beyond my skill.  I'd like to simply leave the original bolt shroud/safety intact and just not use it.

Any comments?  I've looked at Bold and Timney triggers, and have come to the conclusion they're both good, with the Bold priced around $30, and the Timney around $55.  Iike to save where I can - thus my choice to go Bold.

You said you had a '93 Mauser, I have a question for you on this.  Does your rifle cock on closing or opening?  I am not sure if it will make a difference or not, but I seem to remember that if it cocks on closing there is something you need to do to it for the trigger to wrok correctly.  Maybe someone else will have the answer for you.

93's cock on closing, and it doesnt matter for the trigger install. inletting is the hardest part of installing a trigger on an old mauser.

And the inletting is cutting a slot for the safety?  Please tell me no metal work is required.

you also need to hog out a little for the trigger body to sit down in the stock. it is also possible you may need to very slightly open up the slot in the trigger guard that the trigger passes through.
