Cheers people,
I'll apologize first off - I don't know if this topic has been covered in the last six months or not. I just got off a 172 day aerial fire suppression contract and spent most of my time in small towns that didn't have access to my ISP.
I've always had problems with lead fouling in my Shilo Sharps. No matter how much work I spend on cleaning her, I always seem to have lead left in the bore.
I was down at my gun-dealer the other day and happened to mention the problem to him, asking about a commercial cleaning kit that might help.
He suggested that I plug my breach, fill the bore with MP-7, and let it sit for a couple of days. Seeing as I'd just bought a gallon of the stuff from him, I decided to try it.
It WORKED! I let her sit for two days, ran a 28 gauge bore brush through both ways and started to run dry patches. After about ten, I started to see a real difference in the color. I ran two more dry patches and then an oiled patch - it came out CLEAN!
I don't think I've ever gotten a "white" patch back from this gun.
Tomorrow will be the second day after the cleaning - if I get clean patches out of the bore, then I figure I've found the answer to my problem.
Hope this helps.
Gentle winds,
Russ
