Which Scope Ring Height for 2-7x33mm?
« on: November 16, 2005, 04:36:20 PM »
I'm thinking of purchasing a Leupold VX-1 2-7x33 scope for a .308 Ultra barrel I recently purchased.  Can I get away with low rings for this scope or will I need to go with medium?  I plan on using Leupold Rifleman rings.  I don't want to grind down the hammer spur and I certainly don't wont the hammer to ding the scope.

Thanks in advance for your help! :D

I use medium Burris Signature Zees on my 2-7x33 VX-1s, they're .270" tall from the base to bottom of the tube.

Tim, thanks for the info. :D

According to the specs on Midway's website the medium Burris Signature Zee rings are .270" high.  The Leupold Rifleman low rings are .112" high and the medium are .397" high.  So the medium Signature Zees are in the middle and may be the best height.  I'm fond of the Leupold Rifleman rings, though.
