Whatever has happened to all those huge satellite dishes that used to take up most the back yards a few years back.  They couldn't have ended up in the land fills could they?  Were they turned into Detroit Irons?

I see one of those monsters every once in a while out in back of someone's house.

Gone to rust, grass and plants grown up all around, and years of broken lawn tools piled on and against it.

They remind me of giant and forgotten curiosities, like the pyramids or the heads on Easter Island.  

My wife says they remind her of the Statue of Liberty scene from Planet of the Apes...

I remember when they first came out with them. People were paying 3 to 5 thousand dollars for them. They would have TV parties on the weekends and have the whole neighborhood over to watch satellite TV.

Are you guys discussing the West Virginia state flower ?  You used to see tar paper shacks all over the countryside in WV with those things planted next to them.  :)

just had an idea, take one of those huge dishes,4x4s and a little
elbow grease and make a gazebo out of them or have 2 of them
and make a heck of a grill out of them it may look like an
extremly large clam when your done... :grin:

Actually I LIKE big dishes. At the steakhouse buffet.

Mine still sits out there.  The trees have grown too tall for reception! :roll:
But, the VHF antenna is on top of it, so it serves a purpose! :wink:
