CVA .32 grouping results

Hello all, shot the little feller yesterday and had a blast! Thanks for all the advice. Although I haven't taken it yet.......I will as soon as I can get the proper componets. I set a paper plate at 100 feet and traced the outline of a Morgan silver dollar for a bullseye. I then loaded it with 30gr. 2F Elephant....310RB.....010 patch.........Quit laughing, it's all I had, and had to shoot it. The 2F is for my 54's and the patches were cut down from 54's also. RB's came with it. After the sight adjustments and getting comfortable with it, was able to hit the bullseye 13 out of 15 shots. I was impressed! I can't wait to get the proper stuff and see how much I can shrink the groups. The Morgan dollar is about 1 1/2" dia. and although not all the shots were inside I kept the groups within 2". Has anyone used Pyrodex? I'm pretty set in my ways concerning powder.....I LIKE BLACK, but it's getting real hard to get.  What's the word...Lighten up or stick to my guns?

I would stick to black, it ignites much easier than pyrodex. I can still find it around me pretty well, but the prices are getting stupid high. I think this is because of the dealer regulations and our stupid government getting paranoid of us :evil: Jack.

Woodbutcher....a minute of squirrel is right! Them little tree rats are mighty tasty! Jack thanks for your opinion. I was thinking of doing something that really went against my grain. If Grandpa and Dad caught me pouring something other than black down my barrel they'd probably kick my butt off the planet after they disowned me, and owning an "inline" would be worthy of death! Is there differences between Goex and Elephant? Elephant has been used in my family since I can remember, I've never used anything else.

I have heard rumors that goex is a little faster due to finer granulation. I have used goex since I can remember. Gonna have to find another source Raymonds closed up. Wonder if Mike at Traders carries it?

Daniel,
     There are several places that will ship Goex to you. Just make sure that when you order it, you get enough to make it worth your while. You'd be surprised how fast you'll go thru it. besides it's a good excuse to shoot more.

Got-R-done today, Everyone seems to like Goex, so thats what I got.....2Lb.of 3F and another pound of 2F. I was thinking exactly the same thing as Rustyinfla, might as well stock up. Got a box of Hornady .315's and a bag of .015 patches to go with the box of .310 balls I already have. Have plenty of .010's.........I'm set! Will give a report as soon as this wind dies down.......It's coming from the north at a high rate of speed, and getting cold. :eek:

Lots of places on the net to git black powder, just be sure you don't pick one that gouges you on the hazmat fee. I can git 50 lbs mixed to my needs with one $20 charge.  :wink:

Dang Slamfire! It'd take me the rest of my life to use 50 lb. of powder. I try keep 4-5 lb. on hand.......what kind of cannons  you shoot? I have 2-50's....2-54's...a Ruger .45 pistol....a wongdong pistol...and my new arrival, this little CVA .32 rifle. it has no model # but does say "squirrel" on the barrel if anyones interested. My 50's are going to a new (good) home cause I never use them anymore. My neighbor on the ridge owns them now. A Thompson and an Armsport....both hawkins.

Actually I only bought 10 lbs, but 50 are allowed on the same hazmat fee. I've got one .50 that don't shoot as small a groups as your .32, cause the bullets are too big.  :)  I do have a .36 that I carry with me whenever I go outside of  deer, bear, hog season.  :D 10 lbs should last me a year.  :wink:

My 54's are a Thompson mountain rifle and a CVA St. Louis hawkin. Both will do consistant 3" groups at 100 yds.....open sights. Took a lot of tuning. Gonna' take my .32 after bushy tails tomarrow, after a little more tuning on it, the winds are supposed to die down tomarrow.
