Hello
I recieved my Fathers FIRST .22 rifle last year. My Mom passed away, and he came to live with us for awhile. I asked where his first .22 was and he replied, he let me niece BORROW it... I told him I wanted it back and he got it for me. He was seven years old when he got this from my Grand Father. It was bought used and all it had on the top of the barrel was "RANGER" a search revealed that it was made by Marlin for the Sears Roebucks company under this name. Part of the rear sight was missing, and was a peep sight to start with. It also has a Marbles semi Buckhorn and was available with both back then. The Peep sight was removed by my Grand father and I never did find it in any of his personal stuff after he passed. I later learned this odd ball was a target rifle and only made from 1935-1937, in a very limited number for Sears. I lucked out, and found ONE on and auction site. I also stripped the wood as it had been shalacked by my Grand Father years ago. I NOW have it finished and plan to unvail it when Dad comes to visit at Christmas. He was always upset that his dad had removed the sight and changed the original finish. This will be my Christmas present when I hand it to him just like it used to be, when he was a boy... Best regards, Hammerdown
