Bullberry Barrels

I have been over on the Bullberry site looking around and was wondering about something. Now the way that I am reading it is, if you buy one of thier barrels for a encore you also have to buy thier forearms for a seperate price :biggun:  to right? Has anyone had any experience with thier barrels? Are they as accurate as they say they are? Thanks

I had bullberry barrel made in a 7mm08 22 inch full bull .998 dia right out of the box with factory ammo it will hold less than half inch groups with handloads .350 groups are the norm 3/4 to a half at 200 yds and yes you need there forearm for their hanger system best thing to do is give them a call its a great barrel. I will buy another real soon good luck

I am a very long time friend and user of Fred's barrels and custom wood... ran around with him when I lived in Utah's Dixie and we still remain in regular email contact and get together on ocassion.   Still own a bunch of his wildcat barrels for my Contender frames too.   They shoot!  Make that, they really shoot!

Don't have any Encore stuff anymore, they got dumped when I got out of owning any T/C factory products (except for a few "C" frames).   But as for the forend on an Encore... the factory wood uses 2-screws to mount to the barrel, and Bullberry uses these to install a hanger bar that "floats" the forend off the barrel.   His wood (machined to close-fit this bar) then mounts to it with just one screw.   He has forend wood that is very inexpensive, will even sell it unfinished to save a few bucks if you want to do the final on it yourself.   The advantages of the system makes it money well spent - besides, the factory wood is pretty sad anyway.  HTH

Freds barrels have the forearm mounting screws dovetailed like the contender. He uses the bigger 10x32 screws not the " who's stupid idea was this " 8x40 factory screws. With the hanger bar system the barrel is floated.

I read a lot of good things about Bullberry here too but I had problems contacting them. I made one phone call which cost me a few bucks but when I sent an email trying to confirm their price for an Encore rifle I never recieved a reply. Their phone customer service seemed acceptable but if I send an email talking about a $700-800 rifle I expect an answer. It's my opinion in this day and age an email is the same as a phone call and should be responded to in an acceptable time frame.
I ended up ordering a rifle with a TC custom barell from EABCO.

Well I have never had any problems getting ahold of Fred whenever I emailed them.  He allways got right back to me in the next day or so.  I do know if you were trying to get ahold of him in the last couple of weeks he was in the hospital with pneumonia (spelling?) and he does all the email for them.  I ordered a 7-30 waters from Bullberry a few weeks ago so I can't tell you how well it shoots yet but when I get it I will let you know.  I have also done business with EABCO got a 22 Hornet barrel and a 243AI barrel for my Encore.  On the last barrel they kind of burnt the bridge with me because after about 13-14 weeks I decided to email and just check on the status and the lady that replied seemed like I was taking up her time on something useless.  She came across very rude so that was the last barrel I will ever order from them.  I have also ordered a stock set from VVCG and they were great also.  Boy did I get side tracked on some tangent or what....

How long does someone have to wait for a barrel after they order it? I have heard somewhere or read somewhere that it is about six months? :x

It all depends on where you order it from...  Bullberry told me 4 months but we will have to see when it comes... My eabco barrels one I waited 12 weeks for and the other was right at 16 weeks.  Haven't ever ordered a barrel from VVCG so can't comment... I hear there about 8-12 weeks though...  I also hear that SSK is pretty fast but dang there expensive...

I have two pistol barrels bought new from BB. Waited about 4 months for each one. They are deadly accurate and worth the wait. Have had trouble getting through on the phone several times but not as bad as some of the others. You won't be disappointed with there hanger bar setup either. I bought the composite forend several years ago for $25.00 :twisted:

I ordered an amazing contender carbine walnut stock set from Fred. First time I ever ordered. He asked some questions to better understand my length of pull and hand size for the palm swell. I paid the extra $50 for one notch up on wood and 20 notches up.

:) Had a 17 CCM made for my Contender and now have a 14 Walker Hornet being made....Excellant work and very accurate.....took about 4 months but well worth the wait.....never had a problem talking with him or his staff......if I live old enough I will get another one in the future.....Hal

I own 6 barrels by Fred. He stays backordered, but does good work. With case forming loads, my 17 Mach IV does 1/2" groups. I will order from him again soon.

:D   I have several stock sets and two barrels and they are the top quality TC stuff I have.  I called Fred Monday to order another forearm and asked if he had any barrels that someone had ordered and didn't want and he had just what I wanted.  That was Monday and the barrel was delivered today from Utah to SW Mo.  I'm impressed  and will  order more from him.
