Lighter loads for heavy .45 Colt bullets
« on: November 26, 2005, 07:46:00 AM »
Hello, folks! Long-time lurker, new poster here. I have a Bowen .45 Colt conversion that I've developed some good, moderately heavy loads for. Now I'd like to have a good lower-velocity load with the heavy bullets (300-325 gr., 850-900 fps or so). I'm more interested in accuracy and consistency than a particular velocity, etc. Anyone have a load in this range that works well for them?  Thanks, Regan

Woodtroll---Welcome to posting

I too shoot 45lc , But mostly 255 gr. My best load is 10.0 grains of Unique out of a 4 in. barrel .

The modern reloader lists the 300 gr.XTP at 6.6 to 6.8 grains of Unique and 667 fps .

If any of this helps  :?
