Am I the last?
« on: November 13, 2005, 06:45:22 PM »
I am 47 years old from a Native Americian/Dutch background. I was taught to respect the land and the game. I hunt everything from squirrel to bear. I am surprised when folks hear me talking about eating frog legs, pigeon, robin, crow, beaver tail, chicken hawk, squirrels, ground hogs, ( I never developed a taste for Possum) pigeons, quail, snappers, fish eggs, coon, crawfish, snake, rabbit, deer, bear, boar, grouse and anything that lives in the water. I fear that I am the last of my kind. America has become a nation of sensitive folk. I don't offend easy and I praise GOD. A handshake is a man's word. I have come to the conclusion that perhaps I am the last of my kind. I fear for my children, who may not be able to speak their mind for offending someone. I wanted to this because we never know GOD's plan for us. I do wish to state that if GOD fearing folks don't stop turing the other cheek and stand up  we will be be overrun by the heathens. GB I am sorry for getting off the subject as I am passionate about America and GOD. You had to call me down once before and you were right to do so. If this post is not up to your standards then I will leave the forum. God bless you GB and Mrs. You have done wonderful things and I thank you. Love you brother.

I would think that you may be among the last.  People generally, these days, want their food processed and maybe even seasoned for them.  They lack the skills to live off of the land, and perhaps lack the cooking skills to make it delicious.  To stand up for a belief in God is getting less and less popular because it offends non-believers and that means that we are not tolerant enough because we believe in absolutes.

Probably 1/2 of your post should be here and the other half in the Bible study forums.

I agree with you 100% longwinters. I get carried away when I read a newspaper or watch news other than FOX.
I feel better about eating meat that has not been processed. In my county alot of chickens are raised and I have seen it. The birds are fed a slurry of crap to make them grow. From hacthing to market is a short 6 weeks! Those birds are still peeping! These birds will not reach maturity because the growth formula does not allow time for the bones to grow to hold the weight.
In general good bacon will enhance any wild meat. Slow cooking and good meat handling are key.
We ate as much wild game as we could get when I was growing up. I cannot remember ever having any wild flavor in our meals. Dad taught me that how meat is treated after the kill was the key in flavor.
