I understand that there are large and small grips. What is the deal with the round tnag grips? Are the pre Model 15 or what?

They also used to make a larg and small Presentation grip for the small(round) frame, as well as the Gripper(with finger grooves) and the Compac. Some were available in a camo finish.
Large frame (square hole) was available in Presentation and Gripper models. They are no longer on the web page; but Pachmayr is a part of Lyman at:
