I'm about to buy a .44 Deerfield  carbine, (Ruger obviously).
Any Pros or cons I should be aware of? What should I look for, etc.
Thanks for you're wisdom, be safe. :D

I have had one for several years and have only one real complaint about it.  It really needs to be produced with a recoil pad.  It takes heavy loads to cycle it correctly and after while at the range you begin to feel it.  Of course if there is a deer lined up with the business end you will never notice it.  Another small aggravation is that the action will rattle a little which can be bad while on a deer stand.  All in all though it is one of my favorite guns and I have taken several deer with it.  The best answer to recoil problem is a shoulder pad as the shape of the stock butt is such that I have not been able to find a recoil pad that actually works for it.
