fore end screws

how does everyone tighten forearm  screws?do you tighten one tighter than the other?how tight?does any of this affect accuracy as in bolt guns?

I just joined this forum to get some help and your post goes along with my problem.  I just recently purchased an encore with a 7 mag 26" barrel.  It shot horribly with several different types of ammo.  I loosened the front forend screw and it shot noticably better, but still not good.  It seemed to want to string everything out.  I traded the barrel for a 7mm08 barrel (24"), and tried 3 different types of ammo in it.  It is not as bad as the 7 mag barrel, but still the best I can do is 2". Still wants to string everything out.  Does anyone have any ideas that might help me?  I'm pretty anal and can't accept that type performance

with a hanger bar system the bar is  screwed to barrel and loctite is used. the forearm then is screwed on with hexhead screw  floating barre so it doesn't matter how tight the screws are. I also use a rifle forearm to add more area for gripping , sling and a bipod if wanted. You can see mine  with hangers bars at

is the group, side to side or up and down? are you shooting off a bench, with sand bags? if the group is up and down. you might be putting more or less pressure on the wrist of the stock, each time you shoot. my contender is very sensitive to this. it will group better with a light grip with no downward pressure. this is not a problem when you shoot offhand.

The groups have been strung vertically for the most part.  I always shoot from a bench rest with a good rest.  The pressure I put on the barrel and forend is fairly consistent.  I have taken others advice on this forum and placed rubber washers between both fore end screws.  I have not had the opportunity to check out how it shoots now, but will report my results when done.  Thanks all for your help.

I checked out your website.  The hanger bar systems look like the real ticket.  I will check them out from both Bullberry and Stratton (formerly VVCG).  Which one do you prefer?  How much did it help the accuracy in your barrels?  You have some really neat stuff.  Thanks for your help.
