Hmmmm

I have two that I like:

. Ruger #1's (counting 7mm Rem Mag, 1S, .35 whelan with Hart barrel -- on the way in a 1B, and a 1H in .458 win as my Ruger #1 entry)
. Remington Hepburn with an Ernie Stahlman Badger Barrel -- built by a friend of mine and precious to me.

Would like:

. A nice sharps -- by Shiloh sharps, built with a Badger Barrel, good wide windage on vernier target sights.
. Rolling block -- configured as above.
. Maybe a Dakota model 10.

1-Ruger #1 300 H&H, it shoots too good to be anywhere but the top of my list.
2-Stevens 44 1/2 Schutzen in 32-40, heavy barrel and scope, a tack driver and just plain neat.
3-Trapdoor for fun
4-Contender, probably would pick the 6mm TCU VV 18" barrel and Elite 4200 scope.
5-Contender pistol 10" 7TCU

Now I  need to find the time to go to the range and shoot some of them.

Only one really. I would like to have back my Grandfather's totally mint 1885 Winchester high wall in 32 Ideal. Sold it when I was a good deal younger and whoppingly ignorant.

Ok ok....the other four? Just one hour in the Twilight Zone with any 1950s American Rifleman, turned to that full page "Ye Olde Hunter" ad. And there's an 800 number and they take VISA.

I've already got them:
1.  TCR .338Win Mag and 7MMRem Mag.
2.  NEF .30-06, 243.
3.  Encore .50 Cal Muzzleloader, 12 Ga.
4.  Contender .223, .22RF Match Grade
5.  NEF 45-70, 20Ga

These are the favored barrels for these guns, I've got many more barrels for all the TCs.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Whoa! Two Borchardt's!? It wasn't on my list of 5, but the Borchardt is the epitomy of early single shots, and quite possibly one of the finest single shot actions ever built, in my opnion! It was certainly ahead of it's time, and doesn't look anything like other sinlges from the period.
 Way to go Zrifleman!

How fickle I am...  I've changed my mind since last post.

I have:

1) Remington Hepburn
2) Ruger #1S in 7mm rem mag
3) Ruger #1H in .458 win mag
4) Ruger #1B with Hart barrel in .35 Whelen

Would like to have:

5) Farquharsen
or
5) Rollingblock
or
5) Sharps
or
5) highwall (win or browning) -- actually, I like which ever ones have a tang that you can put a vernier sight post on.

I doubt I could keep this down to 5.

I know this is an old thread, but it's fun to dream:

1. my ruger 1B in .308
2. Shiloh Sharps 1874 in .45/70
3. Dakota 10 in .22 LR
4. my .50 flintlock Tennessee Longrifle
5. a .36 flintlock Kentucky rifle custom built for me by Steve Davis (a gunbuilder from back home in TN) I know that these last 2 aren't SS cartridge guns like the rest of this part of the forum, but they are single shot in the strictest sense
 :-D
You only take one shot at a time, so don't waste it :cb2:

The Hepburn was on my list, but I got tired of waiting, and just built one from a junker receiver!

Kind of a timely longlasting thread......

I'd make mine Rugers starting with the two #1s I have: a 1S 45-70 and a 1B 218 Bee. The next one I hope to have will be a 1A 30-06. I'd also like to have, someday, a #3 in 30-40 and a 1S rebarreled or rechambered to 300 H&H. Then there's always the possibility of having a 1B chambered to 225 Win or even some version of the 7X57.......

Thanks Ron! It's far from original, but I built it to keep, so it's just the way I wanted it to look.
