If so what are your overall opinion of the truck. I know I should have asked sooner, but this is typical for me. Close the barn door after the horse ran out.

Saturday I ordered an '06 GMC Canyon Extended Cab 4x4. Z85 suspension, 5 cyl, Automatic. Pretty much loaded it up from foglamps at the bottom to a sunroof on top, and everthing but leather in between.

I had my heart set on the same truck with the Z71 off road package but my wife has a few physical handicaps that made it too hard for her to get into.

I bought this to replace a 99 GMC Sonoma 4x4. It was a great truck but it started to nickle and dime me to death. Waterpump , front axle bearing and just about a month ago it developed an intermittent high pitched squeaking sound when I'd take off.

The dealer gave me a very generous trade in allowance for it so I made the move. Only thing its hard to form an opinion good or bad on a three or four mile test drive. Although it did seem to be a pretty nice ride.

Thanks

my brother has a o4 colorado, he loves the motor and tranny and the decent mileage for a truck of its size. roun 20-21 mpg. however it seems it has been in the shop for lil things more than he has had it. they have replaced the rear brake system and the reaf diff under warranty already and it dont have near 30,000- on it. only had 13 k when he bought it and he hasnt pulled anything with it. he is sick of it and wishes he paid a lil extra and got a toyota like he orignally wanted. on the plus side, the new 5cyl motor seems strong and efficient and the tranny keeps the rev,s fairly low at hiway speed which contributes to the good mpg for a truck of this size and power..

Picked up my Canyon Monday. Glad to hear your having good luck with yours and you like it. So far I only have two issues with it which the dealer should take care of. The little 5 banger runs pretty good. Seems like it has plenty of power for this size truck.
Other than the two issues which really pissed me off at first, I think its a great little truck.

I've got an 04 Colorado 4x4.  Pretty happy with it so far.  Like the mileage.

I spent the last 3 years working at a GM agency. We did not sell a lot of the small trucks (out here everybody need big trucks) but we did not get a lot of come backs. One customer (18 years old) blew out one of his speakers, one gal uses hers for rural (dirt/mud roads) mail delivery and eats brakes. We did have 2 come in with a miss, GM's fix was to replace the exhaust (or intake, I don't remember) springs. My only complaint with them is the seats. I got stuck doing a dealer trade about 7 hours drive each way. I drove an ext cab bench seat out there and an ext cab bucket seat back. In both cases my back was killing me after about 3 hours.

I had the same problem with my 99 Sonoma with bucket seats and the same thing with my '06 Canyon. I found it to be the lumbar support. Back it off all the way and you'll have a pretty comfortable seat. Didn't take all but about 10 miles to figure out it needed to be backed off on the Canyon. All in all I'm pretty happy with my Canyon.
