On 11/6/05, after reading about this new ammo by Hornady, I placed an order with Midsouth Shooters Supply for two boxes of 30-30, 160 gr Evolution ammo at $13.89 per box plus $6.23 shipping. Yesterday my order arrived and I wanted to share with the others that are interested in this product, information printed on the box that was not stated in prior advertisements.
"In the past, lever guns were engineered to function ammunition loaded with blunt profile bullets. LEVERevolution's revolutionary new bullet design may require a newer magazine follower to provide best possible functioning of the last round out of the magazine. These magazine followers may be purchased from the manufacturer of your firearm."
"For optimum performance we do not recommend storing LEVERevolution ammunition in tubular magazines for extended periods as this can result in tip deformation."
They also print a stated Muzzle Velocity of 2400 fps on the box.
I have not shot any of this ammo yet as it rained hard all day yesterday and if the weather is better today, I will be back in the woods. Because my 30-30 is sighted in with Win. 150 gr Powerpoints, I may wait until after the season to try out the new stuff.
I am not suggesting that the above statements are negative and until I try them in my rifle I won't form any opinion other than I am still excited about this new product and what it brings to the table for my 30-30.
