Does anyone have any suggestions for a new muzzleloader. I love the look and feel of the Encore, the looks Katahdin version and the look and feel of the G2. I like the Encore because of its versatility. I can't get over the price though. I also saw a Tradions Pursuit Pro. Love the look and feel but wonder if it will last. I want to buy one muzzleloader only and not have to worry about it wearing out (mainly the Traditions) after x amount of years using it. Any thoughts.

I have a Traditions Pursuit (it is not the pro but the LT). It was an early one and the trigger was terrible when I received it. It made my finger sore to pull the trigger three times. I finally did my own trigger job and it is now fair. I also own a .50 stainless Omega, a .54 T/C Hawken with a .50 green mountain extra barrel, a .50 Lyman flint Trade rifle, and a Traditions .50 pistol. Personally if I was going to only have one muzzleloader and did not want the ability to switch barrels to smokeless centerfire I would buy the Omega. Personally I like the T/C as they will stand behind the rifle if you bought it new or used for life. I would have to decide where and what I wanted to do with the rifle also. If you are where the inlines are legal and do not want to hunt in areas where more traditional are specified then the Omega is still my pick. I might consider a NEF break action as you can also get a smokeless powder barrel for the NEF for about $300 if that idea means anything to you. Again it depends on where and what you want to do. Some do not like the Spanish barrels due to questions as to the safety of the Spanish steel.

I have a Knight Disc and a TC Omega.  My brother has an Encore G2.  Ease of use and cleaning get the Omega.  My brother hunts only ML now in Pa and NY.  NY is shotgun only, Pa is rifle, but he uses a Muzzie.  If you can aford the Encore, do it, you won't regret it, especially if you have a lot of hunting years left.  If I were buying a muzzie again, I believe I would buy a Savage 10ML, since if I want to go smokeless, I could do that.  Cleaning a muzzie after a hard day hunting and you got a deer drag it out and it is raining an nasty and your freezing and tired is a chore.    I would also shoot very clean powder like Am Pioneer or Black Mag 3.  I use 777 not but like Am. Pioneer.  If you shoot AM Pioneer I would NOT worry about the cleaning the same night especially if tired and cold.  Chap

I am leaning towards the Encore, but I want to check out the 50 cal G2. I am also going to look at the Omega. I love the idea on interchangable barrrels, but when I take a realistic look at it, I don't need any other barrels because I already have it covered with other guns.
