US Beef back to Japan --MAYBE
« on: December 11, 2005, 05:40:05 AM »
When will our government stop playing games with these people , Enough is enough .

They say that they will only buy beef that is 21 mo's old or less because of mad cow . Well we have had only 2 cases of it in the US but Japan has had 21 cases in their own cows .

If they can do that , Why can't we say we will only buy tv's that are made with labor costs of $ 12.00 an hour .

Seems to me that if this is the game that they want to play , The gules should be the same for both sides .

Last week, however, after two years of negotiations, Japan's Food Safety Commission finally declared beef from young American cattle safe, paving the way for the government to open the market to meat from cows younger than 21 months of age

Japan imposed the ban in December 2003 after the first case of mad cow disease was discovered in the United States. Ironically, that case was followed by only one more in the United States, while Japan has had 21 cases in total since its first in 2001.

Japan's latest was confirmed over the weekend, when Japan's agriculture ministry determined that a cow that died last week in the northern prefecture of Hokkaido also had the sickness, also known as bovine spongiform encephalopathy, Kyodo News agency reported.

Ministry officials were not immediately available for comment Sunday.
