Ruger 44 mag. Deerfield

Just wanted to know if any body out there has had trouble with winchester 240 gr. softpoints not cycling through the gun correctly. I was told by a gun shop owner to not buy ammo at wal mart, said it was not quality ammo. Any info would be appreciated.

The 240 Grain jacketed soft point and hollow point are the only factory loads available when the Ruger Deerfield first hit the market!  In other words, that is what the gun was originally intended to shoot!

Your problem with them not cycling through the action is probably due to the gas port being dirty, possibly plugged!

As far as WalMart ammo goes;  The ammo companies still have to maintain certain standards, regardless of who they sell their ammo to!

Walmart ammo is just fine

Consider that your Walmart basher was in competition with them and go from there.

Thanks for the info. I would also like to buy some see through scope mounts. Does anybody know where I can get them from, I am not having any luck finding any.

Until I started reloading those were all I shot in my Deerfield and I never had a failure to cycle and accuracy was excellent.  They also dropped two deer dead in their tracks!  If I hadn’t started reloading I probably would still be using them.  Mind you this has just been my personal experience with these bullets.
