Palmer pistol pack
« on: December 07, 2005, 03:26:32 AM »
Hi all,

I am new to the Dan Wesson world.

My local dealer has a Palmer vintage 357 pistol pack with 2,4,6,8" barrel set in case.  His price is $499.

I have read that the Palmer vintage guns not as good as guns made before or after.

Am I making a mistake in considering this gun?

Are there any outward signs I should look for to ensure this is a good gun?

How is his price?

Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer.

Dave

I have heard that the fit and finish on the Palmer Guns was not up to snuff.  They are exactly the same design, so if the gun looks good to you and you check out all the normal things about buying a used revolver (i.e. timing, cylinder lockup and end play, trigger, etc) i'd say go for it.  The price is about right if it has all the barrels and the original case.  Original pistol packs in the original case bring a little more that all the same stuff pieced together in an aftermarket case.

Good luck,
