weaver bases

hello.....just bougth my son a red dot that says fits on weaver stlye bases......well it doesnt fit on his weaver base for his nef rifle.....i looked at 2 other spare weaver bases i have, 1 for a contender and 1 that is for flat top muzzle loaders and nither will fit to the red dot.....tasco....the slots are too far apart..............what do i do besides get him a scope.......thanks mack

Are the rings split vertically?  If so you will need to tighten the rings unto the base before the scope.

no rings...they are more like rails........1 bolt is fixed whereas the other 1 is adjustable....i may take it back and just get him a low power scope..thanks mack
