375 H&H Rechamber?? HELP!!!
« on: December 08, 2005, 01:26:19 PM »
I have a chance to get a Ruger #1 in 375 H&H at a great price. The problem is I have no use for the H&H and I do not reload. Can this #1 be rechambered to anything else?? (375 JDJ-375 Win-376 Steyr or ???) Any input would be appreciated!!.............Thanks

I would say not really. I suppose a 378 Weatherby but that's a real thumper. It can easily be rebarreled to nearly any caliber you can imagine from 22Short to 458 Lott and even that may not be all?? The forearm barrel channel will be too large for most normal barrels but would do nicely for a fluted vatmit style tube!

The 375H&H connot be re-chambered for any of the rounds you've listed because they are all shorter than the original H&H.. The only rounds other than wildcats it could be rechambered to would be the .375 WBY or the .378WBY.. As I see it you have three options, 1. Don't buy it, 2.Buy it and rebarrel it. 3. Buy it and resell it as is, as long as your not fooling yourself about how "good" the price is..
