See-Thru for Ruger M77 Compact
« on: January 03, 2006, 06:12:44 AM »
Just double checking guys!

My B.I.L. wants a set of See-Thru mounts for his Ruger M-77 Compact in 260 Rem., w/integral mounts!

He is right shouldered and left eyed, so he needs the height for his scope!
"We've tried to learn him, but he just won't teach"! You know, old dogs and new tricks!

Anyway, in my Midway catalog I found Weaver See-Thru's, Part Number 49724. The catalog doesn't say anything about this set being for a Compact!
Can any of you tell me if this is correct before I order it?
Does the Compact take the same rings as the Standard M-77 with integral mounts?

Thanks Guys!

Weaver standard see thru rings won't fit the integral mounts for the ruger. there are different ruger rings for certain application such as the 77 and the No.1. As far as I know all the 77's are the same rings but the ultra light is a fairly new weapon. The only see thru rings I found(weaver) were integral bases and were intended for the round topped version. Leupold makes a super high replacement ring set for the ruger 77. Perhaps that will give the height needed? Brownells has a techline that will gladly answer your questions and even make suggestions. You might also contact Leupold or weaver for their input.  There are also (BKL I think??) adaptors that mount on the ruger integral bases and allow use of the standard weaver ring mounting sustem. They added a fair amount of height but that is not likely going to be an issue.

Chuck White - gunnut69 covered most of the bases for you, I just wanted to add that Warne and Tally also make rings that fit the Ruger bases and can be had at different heights. Brownell's will tell you for sure. Good luck! Training BIL's aint easy is it?  :-D CEJ...

CEJ;
No, it's not easy teaching a BIL, especially when they start out "knowing everything"!
