« on: December 07, 2005, 10:45:20 AM »
When using drags for canines and cats in the snow do I need to dye the extra chain and drag?

Do I need to keep them absolutly scent free like with traps?

 Thanks a lot guys -Derek

You should boil, dye and wax your drags just like your traps. They should already be attached to your traps when you start boiling, dying and waxing  your traps. You should try to keep them just as scent free as your traps or the critter you are after may not work the set if it smells strange odors. Worm

I agree with everything Wormbobsky says. When I make snow sets, I just throw the drag and chain out and let it bury itself in the snow. Snow is very porous, sort of like covering your trap or drag and chain with a window screen. Coyote and fox will both smell that drag and chain instantly when approaching a set and most will then avoid working the set.  Ace
