I have found that all of those are good pumps based on my experiences of owning and using them. All are reliable performers and not too hard on the budget. Go with the one that feels the best, shoulders the most easily, and feels most comfortable and then pattern it to find the load it likes after which it is time to hit the trap range and get even more familiar with it.

From those listed hands down the Remington 870 if a Wingmaster but I'm not impressed with the Express version. On the skeet and clays ranges just before hunting season I've seen a lot of folks with the Winchester 1300s and Mossbergs and I've seen more failures of them than all other guns combined. I'd personally never own either altho many seem satisfied with them, can't say tho I've ever personally met a person who was a very serious shotgunner who owned either the 1300 or the Mossberg.

I like my BPS if I don't have to carry it all day. I turned it into my turkey/deer shotgun.

I think the best pump for carrying in the field all day long is a Model 12 Winchester. For small game and stuff with thin hides, a 20 ga. Model 12 field model is about perfect. Some guys carry a 16, which is pretty fun if you want something different. Most, of course, carry a 12 which, if you get an early one, is wonderfully light. Even the older ones, while heavier than the early ones, are much much lighter than the guns being produced today.

I like the little corn cob forearm that the Model 12's had up to sometime after the war. My most-used shotgun is a 28" modified choke Model 12, 12 ga. but right behind it for a day of walking is the 28" modified choke 20 ga.

Own a piece of history - try a Model 12!

right... the bps is the best... but 870 is the best of those listed... you get what you pay for, and you don't pay a lot for mossbergs or 1300s.

I have a winchester 1300 12ga, I have never experienced any problems with it, feeds smooth, I have put over 1500 (2"3/4 with 7.5 bird-shot) rounds through it at the skeet & trap range in the past 6 months NEVER had a problem

20 ga Pump

I'm very happy with my Browning 20ga BPS.  Slim and light compared to 12 gauges.  It's the closest modern thing to a Model 12 in balance and weight.

It's the gun I take if I'm going high in the mountains for blues and ruffs.  It does fine for pheasant as well.  Try to find Federal's P265 load, #6 at 1175 fps.  They pattern well from my gun and reliably take everything from sharptails to pheasant roosters.

I have an 12 870 Magnum Express that is a great pump. Also have a Mossberg 20 pump that is a delight to carry and shoot.

I've shot just about everything that is legal in Ohio with my 870 Express, including deer and turkey.  I have a Mossberg rifles barrel for it.

I had a Mossberg 500 in .410, but had a lot of trouble with it so sold it.  I just sometimes refused to go into battery.

My favorite pump is my Model Twelve that was made in 1917.  Sure wish I had one in 20 or even 28 gauge!  These were well built guns.  As for the 1300, I read that they were being discontinued.
