I'll start by saying I don't have one.
I have looked at them in the past.  I would like to have one in 35 Remington.
I do shoot a Remington model 141 Pump in 35 Rem.  I love it.
I really like the pump action, it's very fast.
If I can find one in 35 I will pick it up.  Nothing wrong with the 30-30, it's just not a 35.

Savage Model 170

cknight98,
In 40 years of hunting and shooting, this is one of the most rarely seen hunting firearms in my experience. When I hunted central PA in the 1970s, it was possible to cross paths with a hunter carrying one, but rarely, as Remington pumps dominated. I owned Remington high power pump rifles whan I used pump rifles in PA. I saw a hunter carrying a Savage 170 in Bemidji, MN 6 years ago. I actually sighted one in for a hunter in the 1970s when I made money doing such for the casual once a year hunters that lived in NJ. Considering that the Savage 170 cost about 2/3 what a Remington 760 did at that time, it was quite a buy. His rifle was a .30-30. I remember that it was lighter and trimmer than the 760 I owned. I only saw one stocked in a store for sale in all those years, and it was so singularly odd to see that I remember where it was, R&S Auto Store in Somerville, NJ. I would bet that Savage quit making them quite a while ago. Had I not moved from PA, I would have sought one out to replace my Remington, as the Savage was lighter and trimmer. Did the 170 have a tubular magazine? Remington had extensive add campaigns in the 1960s and 70s, and I bet they used the clip fed, double action bar facts against the Savage.

I would get one in a heartbeat if I could find one at a decent price!  Like Targshooter says, you don't find them anymore.  A real pitty.

When I first moved to E TN I must have seen 4 or 5 at various flea markets, then when I was ready to buy, they disappeared. You can have one built on one of Savage's shotguns, I just disremember which model.  :D

I would love to have one in 35 remington if anyone out there has one they want to give to a good home.
