Bushnell 3200 Elite Scope
« on: December 08, 2005, 04:16:20 PM »
I've heard many guys here talking about the Bushnell 3200 Elite scope, so I went and checked out their website.

I see that they have something new...at least their website says it's new. I don't know how new. It's called the Firefly reticle. Apparently you blast it with a flashlight for 10 seconds, and the reticle glows.

Does anyone use this Firefly Scope, and can you explain what it does and if it's effective. I use a red dot on my bow and have shot with lighted scopes. It does extend the hunting hours, be it ever so slightly. Is this as good and how long does the charge last?

Their website almost makes this sound like a bunch of hype, but as they have it on a bunch of their scopes, I'm dying to know.

Hunter Mann, I had one on an Elite 4200, it lasted a long time and was very nice, my only gripe was that the retcals are thicker.

Would you get anothe one just like it, or would you opt for the scope witihout the firefly feature?

Thanks for your help.

I have a 3200 Elite 3 x 9 x 40 and love it. Also have a 3200 3 x 9 x 50 Firefly. The rainguard treatment on the Elite series is great. The Firefly reticle works. It will add a few minutes in the morning and evening to your shooting. Eventually all my hunting rifles will have 3200 Elites with the Firefly reticle.

I sure would if it was going on a striclty hunting rifle or pistol.  Over the years I have ended up spending more time at the range shooting and less time in the field so I have opted for more of the target type scopes.  I'm going to have to see one of the Firefly pistol scopes for my Encore, if it does have slightly thicker reticals on the pistol scope I think it might be ideal.
Thanks-Ron

FWIW, I concur.  My first expirament with the FireFly was on my 12 ga A-Bolt slug gun - 1.5X4X32.  Though I think the RainGuard is what makes the scope, the FireFly is nice too.  The reticle is larger, but is of minimal/no concern in hunting situations - whitetails at less than 150 yards.

I'm now saving up to put one on my ML.

I have two of the rifle scope version of the 3200, a 5X15 without the firefly, and a 3X9  with the firefly.  I like them both and will buy them again.  I tried the firefly, and it does indeed work and I think it is worth the extra money.
