They look allright. Might be off a bit but not bad. You won't notice it after you get your wheels on. Besides, Who would dare tell a guy he has a funny looking cannon :-D  :-D

PK is right,  the cheecks might be just a  touch tall but nothing to fret about and as far as the trail being to long well that would entirely depend on the height of your wheels, and i would MUCH rather have a trial to long as to  too short   too short puts more pressure at the bottom of  it and  also increases  the chance of your  piece "flipping" over when it recoils. Im getting ready to set a  6 pnd field gun barrel on a  carriage and  i know my trail is about 8" or so too long  but No one else notices so no harm no foul, besides i dont wanna have to cut another trail 9"x 8" of solid white oak (would get a lil expensive)

Actually it looks like your barrel is too small for the carriage.  You need to make a larger barrel, not a smaller carriage.  (-:

One suggestion is that you extend the lower trunnion irons all the way around to the bottom of the cheeks.  That way the lower irons transfer the whole of the recoil force to the whole cheeks instead of just the small section behind the trunnions.

I'm no expert, but it looks to me like the "extra" cheek hight would allow you  more movement of the barrel like to lob a shot in over a breastworks.
At least it sounds good!

NICE WORK! looks good.  I wouldn't worry to much about it being too tall.  Some of the siege guns have the barrel high in the carriage.
[ http://www.pbocorp.biz/No2SiegeCarriagemoreviews.htm ]  I don't think your barrel is anywhere close to a siege gun height.
