Two of my four Marlins are Scouts, a stainless 44 mag and a 336 in 35 Remington. The 44 is slick as a Ferrari, but is kinda finicky about what nose porofiles it likes to feed. The 44 wears a BSA 2X, the 35 has a 4X Simmons. Both are capable of 3/4" groups at 50 yards or better with ammo they like. I never wanted to scope my lever guns, but my eyesight has deteriorated to the point that I can't hit anything smaller than a Volkswagen unless I'm standing on it, and this way I keep the great carryability and balance intact. Before I'm finished, I plan on having better scopes mounted on all four of my Marlins, but for now these will do. The BSA 2X cost as much as the XS Scout Mount, and I didn't expect much from it, but the eye relief is perfect, and in 1500 rounds, it hasn't moved a bit. My favorite drill with the 44 is snap-shooting soda cans at 50 yards with both eyes open, if I miss one it's ALL my fault. Someday I'd like to put a target scope on it, just to test some loads and see what the gun is really capable of! I think it would shoot into an inch at 100 yards if I could see the target well enough. The 35 has already broken that mark, on several occasions. I highly recommend the Scout concept, it has served me well.
