washing coyotes

I installed an old washer in the furshed over the summer...so now I wash all my yotes in cold water on the gentle cycle.  
Does anyone else wash their yotes??  What kind of soap do you use??  I have been using the generic woolite from the dollar store...called 'cold-water'wash' i think....

When I used to fox hunt a few years back I found an old wringer washer in the garbage and washed my pelts with a little bit of liquid tide.They came out awesome.I had this older fur buyer put them in his tumbler.For me it made a big difference compared too the other folks hunting the same area who didn't wash their fur.I'm not sure if it matters as much now at the local auction as I have seen most buyers wanting the fur green so they can put it up correctly themselves.

I don't have a washing machine but I do wash my coyotes. I also use Woolite in cold water but wash and wring by hand. I started washing my yotes after watching a demo by Greg from NAFA. I put my yotes up they way he recommended  doing it.  When I sold them the buyer had his skinner come out so he could show him how nice my yotes were.  
That was a nice complement.

Yep i agree with Mac on washing the yotes, ive used old wringer washers and it sure does improve the looks.  When i put them in tumbler  with oak or corn cob grit i add a little bit of mineral spirits and the furs take on a beautiful shine and are fluffy.  You know  when you have good looking furs and can hold a bargoning card with good looking furs.  If you dont get yr price you can grab yr furs and leave.

I dont bargain cause ive sent everything to NAFA for a few years now....anyway, I read that some boys use fabrick soffner just like the women do in the wash....and i even heard one guy useses a little bit of BLEACH!!!!  whick he said really cleaned the bellies up.....Im thinkin about trying the fabrick softner but the bleach thing sounds a little nuts to me....

I wash all my coyotes in a laundry tub in the basement.I use Dawn dishsoap,rinse them out in another tub with a little Downy fabric softner.I comb them out and fluff them with an airhose while back combing them.It's a pain to do this but it really pays to handle your fur.My wife helps with washing,turning and combing.
