Which dies
« on: December 14, 2005, 03:45:45 PM »
I am new to reloading and have a few questions.  I have read Lee's modern reloading.  Do I want neck sizing or full length sizing dies for a 308?  How many times can a case be fired before it has to be fully resized?  I am going to be using these in the same bolt action mosting for hunting and paper shooting, no benchrest competition or anything.
Thanks for any help

For what you are doing, the plain Jane full length die set will work for you.  Full length resize the brass the first time thru.  After fired in your gun, smoke the neck on a brass with a birthday cake candle and readjust your die to just clean off the neck.  Don't move the shoulder of the brass.  You should be good for about 4 firings before needing to trim and full length size.
