Contender Stock recoil pad replacement?
« on: December 14, 2005, 03:37:21 AM »
Hi!

Has anyone replaced the thick rubber recoil pad on a Contender carbine stock with a regular buttplate or maybe a thin hard rubber one?

I'm trying to find out if there is a ready made replacement that will fit it, and if so, where can I order it from?

Or am I stuck with getting an oversize one then taking it in to a smith to get it ground to fit?

Don't post too often but I do read the posts and have learned a lot of great stuff from you guys here. Thanks!! :D

I'm not sure but I think sim's makes a replacement butt  pad that you will have to trim down, I believe it was universal.  kjg

You can go to a gun dealer - here its Sportmans warehouse and purchase about any thickness and size you want. I just bring mine home - mark the butt pad with the stock - go to my sander and trim it down. Now I have fourleftpaws - so if I can do it - and I might say they look good - anyone can...I cut the stock off 1" on every rifle I own - and put the butt pads back on - trimming each one....

All these butt pads have been cut down...
