Does the cryo process really work or is it pretty much gimmick?
Lets here opions.

Sorry I guess I need to elaborate. Does the cryogenic process help in
the accuracy dept., likewise does it also so help with the ability to clean
a barrel. Whats your opinion

J Two Dogs: I once owned a Ruger Mark II in 7x57mm that produced 1.25 inch groups at 100 yards. I used Barns CR-10 cleaner quite a bit and had no real problems with copper buildup. I had the process done to the barreled action just to see if things improved. The accuracy stayed the same, the cleaning stayed the same and my wallet lost about $75 in weight after paying for the shipping. I could detect no difference at all. Keep in mind that this was just one rifle and I base my comments on my rifle only. I will not say the process does not work, it very well may improve accuracy and cleaning on other rifles and I just happened to have one which saw no improvement. I know this doesn't help you in your quest for an answer too much, but it is the best I can offer. Tom Purdom

My somewhat limited experience is similar. Some rifles seem to produce spectacular improvements, others little or none. The BlackStar process which smoothes the bore of a rifle can marked infulence accuracy. I have noticed one this in cryoprocessed barrels, most exhibit less tendancy to walk shots as they heat up. Accuracy is much less effected by the barrels tempurature. I have full access and have seen many barrels processed. I have had none of mine done.. It's how I express my opinion I suppose..

Mine is .300wsm in ruger m77 mk2, with a really wispy barrel, usually
the first 2 shots are just about touching (if I do my part), then the 3rd
one blows the group, its really bad when the load is a max handload.
Even if I let the barrel cool. How much is it to (Blackstar one)?

It's been too long. The company I worked for sent several off to get smoothed up. I don't remember, if I even knew, what it cost. Perhaps a google would find it for you.. Sorry. I'll look in my records for an address.. Rifles that walk from heat usually are a bit more stabil after cyro, there's no guarantee..
